The Passover

Lets start with the Passover Feast.
In the days of Moses, Gods judgement passed over the Isrealites
In the days of Jesus, this Feast was Fulfullied
Do we agree on this?
Like I said Im no expert, however I think this is pretty clear

Yes I would agree. The Passover was not only a celebration of God's deliverance in Egypt by the blood of a spotless lamb but also a foreshadowing of God's deliverance and Passover for all those who have been covered by the spotless Lamb Jesus Christ.

I also find it interesting that God had the people make unleavened bread. Again a picture of the Bread of life without sin.
1Cr 5:6 Your glorying [is] not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
1Cr 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
1Cr 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened [bread] of sincerity and truth.

When I think about the passover story. I picture the world being sucked into darkness, and Jesus standing in the center with a big neon sign pointing the way out.
I think of Moses parting a sea, I can only imagine how Jesus will save us

The Passover
In the twelfth chapter of The Book of Exodus , we are told of the institution of the Passover.
This story is a perfect pattern of our salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ that's found in the Old Testament.
(1 Corinthians 5:7) Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
From this event , which is a central point in the Book of Exodus , we can even relate verses as and have more understanding ...........
(John 1:29) The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
The background of the story is that God is about to put in effect the plan He has for the Hebrew nation , to set them apart and have them become a witness for Him to bring men to the knowledge of the Only True Living God.
God has called Moses , along with Aaron , to be leaders of the people that are currently in bondage to the Egyptians.
God has sent them to Pharaoh , to seek his permission for the millions of Israelite's to leave knowing in advance that Pharaoh would harden his heart and refuse to give freedom and safe passage out of Egypt.
The Bible says that Pharaoh knew not the Lord.
Pharaoh was also given a false sense of power from the feats his occult magicians could perform , although these feats were lesser than the men of God they still invoked a feeling of power and pride in the Pharaoh and he hardened his heart toward the people and rejected the requests of Moses.
The Bible says that the Lord further hardened his heart but as we read , Pharaoh's heart was already hardened from the beginning.
God began sending a series of plagues upon the land of Egypt that culminated with the Passover , which caused the death of the firstborn within the boundaries of Egypt.
I am wishing to post the passage from the twelfth chapter and look at key events and significances that show a "type" of our Lord Jesus and the plan of salvation.
It is a wise saying ............
"The New Testament Reveals What The Old Testament Conceals
" ............... and it comes from passages like .................
(Ephesians 3:4) Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
(Ephesians 3:5) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
(Ephesians 3:6) That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
Most people dismiss the Old Testament because they believe it's just about the history of the Jews which they're not to concerned with , however the Bible teaches .............................
(2 Timothy 3:16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
I believe when we get to digging deeper and deeper in the Scriptures , that's much much more the Holy Spirit will teach us and we should be willing to be taught.
I hope that all will enjoy this.
I also pray that if there are any keeping up with this that doesn't know the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour ; this will open up your heart to the Gospel.
(Exodus 12:1) And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
(Exodus 12:2) This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
(Exodus 12:3) Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
(Exodus 12:4) And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
(Exodus 12:5) Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
(Exodus 12:6) And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
(Exodus 12:7) And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
(Exodus 12:
And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
(Exodus 12:9) Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
(Exodus 12:10) And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
(Exodus 12:11) And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.
(Exodus 12:12) For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
(Exodus 12:13) And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
(Exodus 12:14) And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
(Exodus 12:15) Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
(Exodus 12:16) And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
(Exodus 12:17) And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.
(Exodus 12:18) In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.
(Exodus 12:19) Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
(Exodus 12:20) Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.
(Exodus 12:21) Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.
(Exodus 12:22) And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
(Exodus 12:23) For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
(Exodus 12:24) And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.
(Exodus 12:25) And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.
(Exodus 12:26) And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?
(Exodus 12:27) That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
(Exodus 12:28) And the children of Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
(Exodus 12:29) And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
(Exodus 12:30) And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
(Exodus 12:31) And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.
(Exodus 12:32) Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.
(Exodus 12:33) And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.
(Exodus 12:34) And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.
(Exodus 12:35) And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:
(Exodus 12:36) And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.
(Exodus 12:37) And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.
(Exodus 12:38) And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.
(Exodus 12:39) And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened; because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victual.
(Exodus 12:40) Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.
(Exodus 12:41) And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.
(Exodus 12:42) It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.
(Exodus 12:43) And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof:
(Exodus 12:44) But every man's servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.
(Exodus 12:45) A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof.
(Exodus 12:46) In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.
(Exodus 12:47) All the congregation of Israel shall keep it.
(Exodus 12:48) And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.
(Exodus 12:49) One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.
(Exodus 12:50) Thus did all the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
(Exodus 12:51) And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
God tells Moses to speak to all the congregation of Israel.
Not just certain households but the whole congregation!
This means everyone was to hear this command that's about to be given.
The whole congregation of Israel was divided into twelve tribes.
These twelve tribes were sub-divided into families.
The families were divided into households.
The households consisted of individual persons so no one was excluded.
No one was forced to participate in this event ; if participation wasn't desired or if the consequences told of non-participation weren't believed then they could have withheld from the Passover , however the children of Israel wasn't exempt from this event.
Their families would have suffered the death of their firstborn just as the Egyptians had the blood not been shed and sprinkled.
But this opening passage contains an item that I find associated with the Gospel.
(Romans 1:16) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The Gospel was presented first to the Jew then to the gentile.
The same idea is symbolically spoken here in Exodus.
"And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb."
The Jews were told to slay a lamb for the feast and if the households weren't sufficient in size then the neighbors may join in the feast of slain lamb and they would be covered by the blood and spared from the wrath of God.
It didn't say , only your Hebrew neighbors but your neighbor , not designating any certain people.
This tells me that God's people should be busy telling their neighbor about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Maybe even to start in your own neighborhood?
We know that when the children of Israel were granted permission to leave for the land of milk and honey ; there were people of other nationalities with them. People that had blended in the culture of Egypt who firmly believed in the God of Abraham , Issac and Jacob. People who had faith that God would send a Redeemer to His people.
(Exodus 12:48) And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.
It's also interesting to note that the Hebrews of Egypt were slaves to the country and not citizens.
They weren't allowed privileges that were exclusive just to the Egyptians.
They weren't allowed political and high social status.
With Egypt being a "type" of ungodly world image in the Scriptures ; a person stepping out from the world willing to bow to their knee right beside the Hebrews in worship to their God was forsaking their popularity and social status.
They were probably considered secondary citizens and this had to be a humbling experience of themselves in front of the eyes of man but they didn't care!
Their love for God was stronger than any human ties that bind.
They were willing to make a public profession of faith no matter what it cost them in the long run.
Have you made this commitment to God?
Would you be willing to?
God is calling you to the feast of the Passover Lamb!
Will you by faith accept this substitute for your sins or will you continue to harden your heart like Pharaoh?

(Exodus 12:5) Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
(Exodus 12:6) And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening
The Command to take a Lamb.
Not just any lamb would do for this sacrifice but this had to be a perfect lamb , a spotless lamb without any defects or blemishes.
This is a description of Jesus Christ , the spotless Lamb of God!
(1 Corinthians 5:7) Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
Jesus Christ was God in human flesh born from a virgin who lived a normal typical life here on earth just as you and I.
The only difference was that Christ was pure ...........
Christ never once sinned .................
He was indeed the Perfect Sacrifice!
He connected with us and felt everything that we feel.
Christ experienced joy , sadness , anger , pain and agony and yes ..... a cruel death entirely on our behalf.
(Isaiah 53:6) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
(Hebrews 9:28) So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
It wasn't enough that God stepped down from His Throne in Heaven to mingle and interact with His creation. It wasn't enough that Christ lived a sinless life.
Even the ministry He conducted for three years wasn't enough.
The many people He taught , the many miracles He performed , Christ establishing the church ; none of these by itself would have been enough to save our miserable worthless hides!
If Christ had decided to leave earth and refused to pay our sin debt then we would have been doomed to a life of eternal torments.
We can't lift one finger to save ourselves.
We cannot perform enough good works to cover our sins.
Just one sin would condemn us forever and we would not have anything to justify us before God the Father.
We weren't saved just because the Lamb was spotless.
We are saved because the Lamb was slain and the Blood applied!
The shed blood of Christ is the only atonement for our sins.
(Hebrews 9:22) And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
(1 John 1:7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
It's the blood of Jesus that covers sins and washes us whiter than snow.
As you read through the Old Testament , God demanded a blood sacrifice for our atonement.
As far back as the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve disobeyed God , we read of the first blood sacrifice which is also a "type of Christ" found in the Holy Scriptures.
(Genesis 3:21) Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
This was showing us that it takes a worthy sacrifice , a blood offering to cover us as the skins from the slain was used to cover the nakedness of Adam and Eve.
Have you been saved?
Have you been washed in the Blood of our Passover Lamb?
If not , please don't delay.
The Dependable Word Of God says that ...................
(Romans 10:13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Call upon the name of the Lord and tell Him that you are accepting this shed blood of Jesus and ask God to apply this blood offering upon you , just as the skins covered Adam and in this same way that your sins may be forgiven.
The Bible says that all you have to do is call upon the name of the Lord and you shall be saved.
Accept Christ , the Son of God , as your personal Saviour
Believe that Christ's sacrifice is more than enough for your redemption in the eyes of God and accept this through faith.
It just takes a small amount of faith and as you continue your walk with the Lord from this minute onward ; I promise your faith will be forever increasing.

The Application Of The Blood
(Exodus 12:6) And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
(Exodus 12:7) And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
(Exodus 12:22) And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
This is where we'll lose the rest of the Universialists and Calvinists reading along with us.
The blood of the Lamb must be applied!
We are told the whole congregation of the Israelites participated and this was performed individually.
We are told that the blood was shed , then collected in a bason.
Had any individual ended the procedure at this point ; their effort would have been fruitless.
The blood has to be applied by each individual wishing to benefit from God's grace.
No one was excluded but the blood had to be applied.
I can't stress this enough.
No amount of shed blood could save anyone unless it was applied.
No collection of blood in the largest bason in the world could save anyone unless it was applied.
The blood has to be applied!
Once the blood was applied , we have the promise of God that we are secure ,
"the LORD will pass over"
Amen Thank you Lord!
(Exodus 12:23) For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
The placement of the blood was an important feature for the Israelites to know , as well.
When the occupants entered their houses for the night , passed through their doorways ; they were covered completely by the blood.
The blood wasn't to be sprinkled on the threshold or outside on the sidewalk. The people weren't told to walk through it so only their feet would be wet.
They were ordered to strike the lintel above their head and the two side posts.
When they walked through the doorway , they were covered completely from head to toe and this signified that through faith , they were washed in the blood of the Lamb.
Also note they weren't told they were to walk in and out of the doorway multiple times throughout the night either to be secured.
This is God telling us that ,
"Once saved , always saved"
"and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning"
Once was sufficient! Amen!
So to sum it up ; the shed blood is efficient but not sufficient unless it is applied by the individual.
As I was going over this tonight ; another concept caught my attention .... the
"applicator"
itself.
"And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood"
I looked deeper at "hyssop' and what exactly it typified.
The applicator pictured here is a
"type"
of our faith.
It turns out that hyssop was a plant that grew wild and plentiful.
Very common in the area and available to all.
Whether you earned a king's wages or if you hadn't a nickel in your pocket ; you could obtain hyssop freely and this could not be withheld from anyone.
People , hear me.
If you are an unbeliever , God wishes to draw you unto Him.
Someone in the past may have told you that your eternity is secure just because Jesus died and His blood was shed on Calvary's Cross.
While Christ's Blood is precious , this by itself will not save you.
Some believe they're saved on emotions or their feelings , on religious experiences , through religions and traditions of the church , by their good works and many are relying on other paths to salvation.
This doesn't work like that.
You have to take the paint brush of faith , dip it in the bottomless bason of God's love where the Blood of Christ is freely flowing and apply this to your heart.
All God wants for you is for you to change your mind about who God really is.
Once you begin to know God , learn of His love and accept the sacrifice of the Lamb of God as the only means that you can be justified in the eyes of God.
The Bible tells us that without the shedding of blood , there is no remission for your sins.
Only Christ's blood , the Lamb of God , applied to your heart will provide salvation.
After you begin to believe He died on that cruel cross for our sins and rose victorious from death and the grave then what little faith you have will begin to grow and down the road you will have faith that can move mountains.
We have a comparison for our faith.
As tiny as a mustard seed is , given time and nurture then it will grow into a huge plant comparable to the small size of the seed as it began.
Just give God a chance?

Oh how powerful is our God that we serve!
God shows us His infinite wisdom in giving us these passage of His Word , directly , so we can have confidence in knowing our faith is not in vain!
There are other mentions in this , which I'm sure we will be shown many more when we get to Heaven and all things are revealed to us.
I would like for us to look at the next passages together.
(Exodus 12:
And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
(Exodus 12:9) Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
They Were To Eat The Lamb
(John 6:54) Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
(John 6:55) For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
(John 6:56) He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
(John 6:57) As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
(John 6:58) This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
The blood has been shed and applied now we are to eat of the Lamb which shows that after salvation , each believer has an indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
(1 Corinthians 6:19) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
This is also symbolic that after conversion that we are all become one in the body of Christ.
The old man has been put down.
Not longer are our ways placed before His ways but now the service to our brothers and sisters and service to the Lord should take center stage in our lives.
We should be soul winners , we should fellowship , we should discipleship , we should strengthen and encourage and be unified in the work that Christ would have us do because we were bought with a hefty price.
(1 Corinthians 6:20) For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
(Romans 12:1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
(Romans 12:2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The Lamb Roasted With Fire
Yes the Lamb was to be roasted , not raw or half cooked which signifies that Christ's work was completed.,
This also shows the purifying properties that are transferred to the believer because we have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb then we are made holy and acceptable to the Father.
To Be Eaten With Unleaven Bread
Leaven is always used as a depiction of sin and sinfulness.
(Matthew 16:6) Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
(1 Corinthians 5:6) Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
(1 Corinthians 5:7) Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
(1 Corinthians 5:
Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
This is showing that God has began working on us , transforming us into an image of Christ. Our sinful habits and lifestyles are being replaced by the things of God.
Don't become discouraged if you still fall into the snare of sin because as long as we remain in our fleshy bodies , we are apt to sin.
As we further our walk with God , sins become fewer.
Instances where we do sin ; we automatically remorse from it and seek God's forgiveness.
Before we were saved ; the thought of sin wouldn't have even troubled us.
(2 Corinthians 5:17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
With Bitter Herbs They Shall Eat It
(Hebrews 12:11) Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
As Christ tasted the bitter cup of humanity , so our gift from God comes with a price tag.
We are held to our responsibility to be a representative of Christ and walk upright in front of man , one reason so that we do not become stumbling blocks to the lost.
If we continue to willfully sin then God will punish us ; not by taking back our salvation but a chastening that will bring attention to our abuse of God's goodness. We are not at liberty to sin because we are forever sealed until the day of redemption.
We must not take advantage of this.
Sometimes God will also mold us to what He would have us to be as a potter would mold a piece of clay. Our bitter herbs may not be what we would wish for ourselves but one day we may have to forsake all we hold dear , pick up our cross and follow Him.
It may be nice and comfortable to sit in our living rooms but God may rather us to go into the mission fields.
We may be tasting bitter herbs at times but it's all for the better of God's purpose for our lives.
Not A Bone Broken
One other point I would mention here is that this was true with Christ and fulfilled prophesy ....................
"his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof."
The Lamb was to be roasted whole , fully intact with nothing broken or removed.
(Exodus 12:46) In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.
(Psalms 34:20) He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
(John 19:30) When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
(John 19:31) The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
(John 19:32) Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
(John 19:33) But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
(John 19:34) But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
(John 19:35) And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
(John 19:36) For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
(John 19:37) And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
Be Ready To Leave
(Exodus 12:11) And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.
Eat the Lamb in haste ...... or don't delay because ............
(Mark 13:32) But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
(Revelation 3:3) Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
We are told to be good watchmen.
Always looking for Christ to return.
(Revelation 22:20) He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
Are your loins girded?
Are your shoes on your feet?
Is your staff in your hand in anticipation of the Lord's return?
Are you ready to leave?
Let's talk out of context for a minute?
We know the Rapture of the Church will happen before the second coming of Christ ....... but
" what if "
the Lord was headed over to your house right now?
Would you feel secure if the Lord were to come back right now?
Would you rush out to meet Him or would you hide in fear?
Would you feel great joy knowing you were about to meet the Master?
Or would you be feeling great shame knowing that you have not obeyed the Lord's commands to be saved?
If you answered those questions honestly then you know what you have to do before the Lord does come back for His Church ..... Just don't delay any longer!
God bless
